Calink Version 2.0 is now available.

Calink is software & hardware which enables Pennywise automation units to be controlled from a central PC.

Pennywise automation units are connected to the PC using a standard 3-wire RS-485 interface. Additional devices such as CS18 and CS30 status panels can also be included in the network.

Calink enhances the performance of automations. However, it is not essential for their operation. The automations will continue to run normally even if calink is not running.

Calink provides the following monitoring and controls:

The status of sessions in all cinemas is displayed in graphical form

A database of sessions (film name, starting time, etc) is maintained,

A database of Automation programs is maintained,

Session details are transmitted to each automation.

Any combination of cinemas can be interlocked,

Individual automations can be viewed and operated from the PC.

Note: Automation type will determine which type of view is seen in manual mode.

Some of the new features of Version 2 include:

1. Automatic timing of sessions and session components.

2. Faster response from automation using the advanced features of the CAIS485 interface module.

3. Detailed session information can be entered such as feature print number, advertisements, previews, slides etc.

4. Detailed status information such as state of projector motor and picture state, interlock state, house and stage light state etc.

5. Sessions can be dragged in status view. Version 2 also allows zooming in/out or panning into future or past.

6. Sessions can be imported from some ticketing systems.

7. Interlocking is now associated to sessions.

8. Multiple types of automations on the same network can be now be controlled.

9. Improved global alarm plus the added feature of canceling beepers from Calink.

10. New session and program report printing feature with selectable templates to be available soon. Templates can also be created or changed by the user.

11. Calink V2 can run under Windows® 98SE, ME, NT, 2000 and XP.

Note: Calink requires a CAIS485 interface module (pictured below) which connects between the PC and the RS485 network.
